Hi Kirsti,
Stumbled upon your blog whilst gathering ideas and information for my first adventure into children’s book illustration. My book will be about some underground creatures called rcyclopods – who make use of all the things people throw away. They befriend a boy and girl who are very wasteful. They will attempt to show them the error of their ways – hopefully in a fun way – in pictures. The book will be for my own children (self published as i’m not good enough for the general pop !!!) who want me to turn my made up night time stories into something more tangible.
You are an inspiration to me and although I have nothing like the talent you have i will strive on regardless. You are obviously passionate about what you do and picture books will play a part in children’s lives forever. My children can’t wait for their weekly trip to the library to pick out some new stories and theit own paintings and drawings show how much they are inspired and influenced by them. Their imagination runs wild when they are looking at picture books – they constantly question what is going on in them !
Keep up the good work and thank you once again for your wonderful illustrations, your enthusiasm, talent and inspiration.
Best wishes from Steve , living in a tiny and currently very snowy village in the North West of the United Kingdom.
What lucky kids to get their very own, personal book! And I’m so glad picture books are such a enjoyable, creative and important part of their lives. Well done!
All the best on your book project – I hope you have loads of fun working on it and sharing it with your children!
Cheers from a (currently) very rainy, windy city in Southwestern BC.
